I shouldn't complain
I've had a good time
But why should good times have to end
Another contender's hanging off your arm
He's easy to look at
he's got buckets of charm
That sort of man could do me a lot of harm
How I wish I was him
But still the pill is bitter to swallow
The real world is a bit too hard to take

Why should you?
But jealousy is so hard to shake
I watch the T.V.
Smoke cigarettes

the wetter you'll get
The thoughts that I think
they will be bitter and strong
Like the coffee you get in motels
It's not that I want a glory box
or trousseau or to hear the sound of
wedding bells
What I hear I won't believe
